The short answer is yes, I do use...have used... less expensive stuff to practice on. My first kilt out of "real stuff" is my next one, after I finish this grey one I made out of a wool/poly blend I got from Fraser and Kirkbright.

How is it working with the wool/poly blend? Have you had any troubles with it we should look out for?

The only thing I have noticed in terms of 100% wool and a wool/poly blend is that the blend seemed to me a bit 'stretchier'.
I found the 100% wool easier to work with...
