Rats. They come unpainted, and I can't paint.

Somewhere along the line as a boy my grandfather Murdoch gave me a set of lead bagpipers. They're a couple inches tall. Five have survived in whole. Two have busted stands. The rest are gone.

I like looking at them and have them set up on my desk.

My mother-in-law has been cleaning out her basement recently, and she found these in a box. She can't recall where they came from, but she knew I'd like to have them. They're made by William Grant, and they stand proudly on guard on our fireplace mantle.

    Edit...
Just found some info on Ebay about these figures. I was wrong about who made them:
"You are bidding on two loose lead soldiers in excellent, as new order. These are numbers 2 and 3 from the set of nine traditional Scottish regimental lead soldiers issued by the Scottish Whisky company William Grant's as a promotion in the early 90's. They were made by the famous BRITAINS company, and called the Military Collection and were hung around the neck of Grant's whisky bottles; thus you had to buy two bottles to collect these. Figure number two is a Sergeant in troos from the Royal Scots. Number three is a soldier from the Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders. Each is stamped underneath with the company name and copyright. The soldiers measure approx two inches tall, and are hand painted in detail."
