Very amusing if somewhat far fetched. In reality the telemarketer would have hung up long ago. In my experience the marketer offers you something. When you say you aren't interested they ask you why and when you begin a lengthy explanation you soon realise they have hung up. I had such a call on two consecutive evenings last week from a credit card company inviting me to transfer balances onto their company's card. I cut up my card and returned it to the company for cancellation and told them in my covering letter that I do not take kindly to rude telemarketers calling me and then hanging up. It would at least be good manners if they could be taught how to poiltely end the conversation once they figure out that they are making no headway.

The telemarketers in Scotland must be a lot less persistant than those here in the USA.

As the others have said, those telemarketers in Scotland must be much less persistent. I've never seen that with any calls I've received, I usually just end up hanging up on them.

My aunt has received a call from one selling home windows once. She started crying and told him that her house had burned down a week prior, he apologised profusely
