Clancelt,
Those are similar to the ones I made, and they have also held up reasonably well. I've had a couple of weight plates break, and deformed a few handles but overall they have done well.
Also someone asked about what exercises to do in the gym? I'd recommend O-lifts, 1-arm dumbell snatches and front squats

UPDATE: We have the use of the Carlmont High School throwing field for Sunday the 10th. in the afternoon.
Directions to Carlmont High School:
Take Highway 101 to the Ralston Rd. exit on the San Francisco Peninsula.
Take Ralston going west (to the hills) not East (to the Bay)
Continue straight through, and cross El Camino Real...keep going past Notre Dame de Namur University and the Notre Dame High school.
Turn left on Alameda De Las Pulgas...there's a Safeway at that corner, on the far side of the street.
Go about about 3/4 of a mile to the Carlmont High School entrance on the right, but don't turn in. Go another 150 yards, and park on Alameda De Las Pulgas. If the student parking lot, which is quite small, is available you can park in there. The throwing field, also called the "lower soccer field" is BELOW the football field.....between the football field and the street.
Time???? Don't know yet.

Alan - are you guys still on for tomorrow (Sunday)? I'll need to bring the camera with the long lens so I can shoot pictures from the warmth and dryness of the truck cab.

I picked up some old weights for cheap at Allan Steel the other day. So now I have the ABS pipe, duct tape and 15 pound hammer sitting inthe garage. I also have enough weight for a 28 pound WOB/WFD. i'll grab the plumbing bits this weekend.
I bought a 50 lb bag of sand at the garden supply for $4.00, and will be putting that in a stout canvas bag. I'll take out 8 lbs of sand and I'll stitch webbing handles on the bag and will try using that for the 42 pound weight.

Let me know when you plan on training and I'll be there. I'm looking forward to Woodland and making a fool of myself. I know what you're thinking, no need to wait for Woodland, I make a fool of myself whenever I'm in public

Not to intrude . . . I've discovered a marvelous way to lose weight and toughen up. I've got a fifty pound bag of sand (Alan's post about the sandbag brought it to mind), duct-taped into submission and stuffed into my large ALICE pack. Three or four times a week I'll hike three miles with that on. It is grand stuff indeed to be out walking about in nature in a kilt with a pack on!
