Stillwater taking too long...

Hmmmm....grumble because I can't play....biggest hassle is living in the canyonlands where seamstresses are scarce...did find a lady to repair the UK seam that came unravelled, but that wasn't a tartan.

Guess I'll have to go prowl the website and see whats left.

Had always kinda figured when I finally went to the Leatherneck tartan I'd spring for a hand sewn...but can't hurt to have a knock around either...

Guess I could buy one then poke around town and see if someone is willing to take on the task.

Its a long way from 24" to 21 1/2"...but you only gotta cut once...and hey, maybe I could use the left over for flashes...

I love it when a plan comes together.

Still gonna wear my RAF tartan kilt in the next Veteran's Day parade. I'm resolved to that.

I have to agree with Panache, Ron. For the $44 it cost for a Stillwater economy, is it not worth just checking out the fit. It's acylic and you may be able to hem it yourself (or any friends) with some basic sewing or it may fit alright from the get go. It's acrylic not $60/yard wool so who cares if it doesn't look like Hector Russel did it up. You'll never know until you try. For $50 it's probably worth the attempt.

By all means get the Leatherneck traditional in the future, but give stillwater a shot. That way you will know for sure it they are an option for the future or not. Look what happened when you finally decided to order a USA Kilt. How many do you have now?

I get off work early today (thanks boss) will put a tape to my belly when I get home and try one of these puppies. Checked the site and they have a few left in my size range.

Seriously Ron,

You've had the pleasure of trying most of X Mark's Kilt Makers and Vendors, it's about time you try a SWK. You know that Jerry has to offer a single length to keep the costs down to keep them affordable. And if you have to offer one size, it makes a heck of a lot of sense to offer the longest average size that can be hemmed down to fit pretty much everybody.

Got my Saffron wool and Nightstalker standard today. Impressed so far. Will review more when I've taken them out for a few drinks. (Just to see how they behave).

Yes, Ron. The offer was serious. I just hand-hemmed an eight-yarder and it didn't take all that long. I'll be happy to do it for you.

By the way, I'll be out your way this summer. We'll be in Sedona, which according to Google Maps is about 160 miles south of you. We were planning to go see the Canyon of course, so that would take us even closer. Looks like a kilted get-together to me!
