			Off to the Ballet

Tonight my wife and I and 20 folks from work will be venturing up to Seattle to watch the Nutcracker. It is only my 4th time out (number 2 and 3 being the Highland Games, so they don't count). Only a couple of the friends saw me kilted the first time.
The tartan is a Moran tartan (green background with blue/red/yellow--very similar to County Mayo, which coincidently is where we originated). White shirt, red tie, lovat blue Argyle Jacket, and off white hose will complete the outfit.

My wife has been very supportive, and while she tends to seem non-chalant about it, I think she enjoys it. This summer at the games when I hadn't quite decided to pick up the Argyle jacket or not, she told me I was pre-approved to spend the money on it. If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

Pictures and stories will follow tomorrow.

I see nothing but good from this outing. Where else can one properly enjoy Kilt wearing if you cannot do it while attending the ballet, the symphony, or a play?
 Pure class.

			The Report

What a great evening. After some good natured ribbing from our friends when they picked us up, we drove up for dinner. On the way out of the restauraunt, one of the waiters asked my clan affiliation, and said that he was a MacDougal.
Once at the theater, we found our way to the correct balcony to meet up with our friends. On the way up the stairs we passed another kilted gentleman and his lady (black jacket and red tartan, if it was any of you guys), got our drinks and met up with the rest of the group. After the first act, as we were getting up for intermission, a very nice looking woman said, "I love your kilt, its wonderful".
All I could manage was a polite "Thank You", as it caught me off guard, and my wife was watching.
All in all a very good experience. Here are the pictures.

It sound's like you had a very good night out. I LOVE that tartan. One of my Irish lines goes back to County Mayo, and I've been wanting that tartan. So, I definately see the strong resemblence in the two. The lovat blue jacket is wonderful.

That's a very smart-looking outfit. You and your wife are a stunning couple.
I'll bet a lot of the wives who saw you two are goading their husbands into getting those old kilts out of the cedar chest.

For the group we went up with, I know I'm the only kilted one of the bunch. On the way home, we got into the discussion about what is the difference between a kilt and a skirt (so I explained the construction of the pleats and the waist/hip difference between men and women), and then I was asked by one of the women if it was built like a "skort", which is a combination skirt/short. When I told her that no, there isn't anything like that built in, that it just wraps around, I could see her eyes light up. It should be interesting to see her at work tomorrow.
