Hello from K-Town germany
Hey, Gentlemen, been lurking for a while, and figured I should introduce myself. Name's Shane, currently stationed in Kaiserslautern, and shortly going back "home" to georgia, six years here, and seven there so it's home to us now. I just got my first kilt in the mail today, a SWK standard in Irish National, and I am loving it. The kilt because my wifes scottish, and the tartan 'cause I'm Irish (it's a volatile combo, but we make it work). Also a nice big HI to all the other GI's over here! I'm more of a lurker than a poster, so in advance, thanks to all of you who have put so much info. on this board.
Have a good 'un

Hi,
Welcome from Ohio.
Congrats on your first kilt; sure it won't be your last.
Thank you for your service.
Bob
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

Shane, Welcome from the other side of Germany. I work at Grafenwoehr. You may have visited over here a few times.
SWK is a great way to get into kilting. Hope you will post pics soon.

Welcome! I spent two years (1999-2001) in the KMC.
I was USAF and stationed at Ramstein (86 MXS/ 623rd A.G.E. C.A.T.)
It was a great time, though much of it is fuzzy from too much stout consumed down at The Blarney Stone down in Ramstein Village, and Thirsty Nelly's and The Harp down in K-town. Memories, memories. I wasn't a kilt wearer at the time. But, I remember the Ramstein BX had a little Celtic vendor's shop in it. I can't remember for the life of me what it was called. But, they offered the usual tartan and family crest items. They also offered a kilt service (the type where you wait 6-8 weeks while some un named kilt maker in Scotland sews away for ya) as well as kilt accessories. I don't know if it's still there, but it could be useful to you if you needed some essentials (sporran, hose etc.) to wear with your new kilt. Congrats and enjoy.
