For the Good of the Cause

Hell-o all,

As you know I am a firm believer that when one dons the Kilt it should be done with respect and honor while we are clad with this garment.

I understand that situations and desires may prohibit those of us who adore the Kilt to be Kilted all the time, but I would like some feedback from everyone that feels comfortable to respond, what have we done for the good of Kilting the last 24 hours?, how about this past week?

In the past 24 hours, I have given a classmate several kilt-related websites to check out. In the past week, I've booked a show for my pipe band, started teaching a new group of pipers, and worn my kilt 3 times in public.

I have helped moderate and have taken part in a kilt forum that is both educational and enjoyable.

I don't generally think of the kilt as a cause or something that defines me, but rather something I wear once in a while. I am sure I will get a comment/question or two tomorrow evening at my wife's company Christmas party.

In the past 24 hours it's all been net based as the weather has been so awful that I didn't venture outdoors but I still had a kilt on! Besides contributions to xmarks and sporran clan have discussed kilts in chatrooms too.

In the past week I have worn the kilt when out even for shopping and at the Royal Welsh show Winter Fair and again answered questions, one guy even came up and shook my hand and I was able to tell him a bit about Welsh cilts.

Attended a carol service on Sunday kilted also.

Also ordered a new kilt, a practice chanter and a piping course.

Attended my girlfriend's works X-mas meal kilted (Black Stewart kilt with black/red shirt and accessories),not comments at all!

If just wearing it in public counts, Saturday it was at the company party (couple of thousand people in attendance, I was the only one kilted), Tuesday I wore it to chorus rehearsal, where a hundred or so people saw me, and I engaged one fellow in a conversation about the price of kilts.

Earlier in the day Tuesday, I led a class at work. During the introductions, I asked people to say what they are known for. When it became my turn, I said I'm probably known for being somewhat eccentric and don't mind being out of step with the norm. By way of example, I explained the kilt thing to the class, but judging by the number of slack jaws, this might not have been such a good idea. All I can say is that at least I tried to put it out there.

I haven't wore any kilts in the last 24 hours

But this past weekend while kilted I spoke with a lady about my kilt. "I love your kilt!" "Aren't your knees cold?" "I should get my husband to wear his kilt more." are things this lady said.
'Thanks' 'Nope' 'yes, you should!' were my replies

I'm helping others being leading by example and offering encouragment for being kilted.

I think you should tell your class that you are 'leading by example' to a (better) road less travel by wearing kilts...not a step out of norm

Tried to bring a little Joy to my little corner of the world (See posting "Joy to the world" on Sunday by being kilted in the city and exchanging with folks who wanted to know more!!!!

Monday night, I had a rather lengthy conversation with a guy who wants a kilt, but could never afford one (that he knew of). Additionally a clerk over hearing us, told us that he had just heard the kilt song (you know the blue ribbon one) a few days earlier on the radio. So where did all this take place, the paint dept at Home Depot.
