Winter there, here it's fire season

While most of you are discussing how to keep warm in a kilt, Down Under we are facing drought and the annual threat of bushfires.
Already huge areas of South Eastern Australia and east coast of Tasmania are burning.

Our own property is very dry and is in danger if a fire breaks out.
Today we had to spent 4K (four kilts) on fire fighting equipment (pump/hoses) just so we have some way of protecting our home should the worst happen.

Our evacuation plan involves grabbing the wife, the kilts and the dog (in that order) if we cannot stay and fight fire.

We pray that we get through another summer without bushfires.

Still, at least we don't have cyclones, tsunamis or earthquakes. At least you can fight a fire!

You and your home will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sounds like quite an issue to deal with each year.

The real question is that 4K traditional eight yard kilts or stillwaters?

Man, it certainly brings into perspective my angst over being cold! My prayers are with you to keep the homestead and family safe!

This last summer it was not to bad here in the Mts. but we had one of those 5years drought. The summer before was not so good. The lakes were way down and the watering of lawns were restricted. Then this morning the even with snow falling the weather report is we are behind in this new water year. It seems to be getting more of a problem each year and I understand that there is not enought snow in europe to race so far this year.
