I would recommend a Scottish quaich, which is a traditional symbol of Highland hospitality -- something he could set on the mantle or a bookshelf, but could also be used for a "wee dram" as well.

And, if you still wanted to go the "honourary clan member" route, many companies sell variations of the traditional quaich with a engraved clan badge at the bottom of the bowl.
