I believe it was GBS, but Churchill's mother was an American, Jennie Jerome. ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

See... I actually think the Avalanche kilt would be MUCH simpler than the Bruins kilt that KT is mentioning. Unless, of course, you were trying for the Yeti foot to show up in the pleats!
I think the Avalanche kilt would simply look better if the kilt mimiced the color scheme of the jersey, with a smallish appliqued "A" where a kilt pin woul go. Or even the Yeti foot!

Ok... I simply have to do this, even at the risk of earning myself an infraction point. The quote did it.
Watch this: Eddie Izzard on being bilingual. Be warned... it's probably NOT something you should view at work, and probably not in the vicinity of children. It IS funny, and it does use the quote above, though it's credited to Oscar Wilde.
As for the quote... I found it here being credited to GB Shaw. Looks like Eddie was wrong... about that anyway. lol

I agree the foot would be difficult to show in the pleats. The Bruins logo would also be very tough unless you serged the edges of the fabric instead of heming it. Theoretically, you would have to do the Bruins logo in three stages where I just pleated the yellow on top of the blue for the Bruins logo you would have to pleat, white (for the circle), yellow for the lines around the B, and black for the B. It would add some serious weight to the area where the logo would be, and I don't know how that would hold up.

I had been thinking about doing the A in the pleats. I never have really liked the Yeti foot. I know it is part of the history from the team being the Nordiques, etc. but it just doesn't float my boat. I still am not sure I'll be doing an Avs kilt. I have however, liked the look of Keith's Sabres Kilt enough that I'm planning on doing a Hand of Eris kilt. In case you're wondering, it's a symbol from my religion, and it looks like this:

It is two arrows colliding and is one of the symbols of chaos. I think it would look really good in dark red on a black kilt.

Erisianmonkey,
Make sure you try that design on paper first, I don't think the heming of it will be as much of a problem as with the Bruins logo, but I do think that the curves may play havoc with the under pleating of the fabric. Give it a shot, also make sure that you can free hand the design, this will be important to make sure the points end up exaclt on the pleats where you want them to be.
Good luck,

Thanks Keith. Sound advice. I can play down the curves a little, which should make it easier. I did try the design on paper (the pleat and cutout thing that you described) , and it actually went really well. I had also thought about doing a pentacle-that was scary!
Here's a pic of the hand in red on black with no curves:

I just have to revive this thread.
Not so much because I want to make my own hockey related kilt, but because I do think I'd like to make a sports related kilt.
Given the recent winning of the AFC championship by my hometeam, the Indianapolis Colts, I was wondering if something along these lines would work such that I ended up with a kilt where a big horseshoe (Colts logo) can be seen in the pleats. That's right folks... I'm looking for pointer as to how to pleat to the horseshoe!!

Have you thought of box pleats? They would seem to make the project simpler.

box pleats, knife pleats... either would be fine with me.
Should I just go with the method that possingk used for his kilt, only the extra fabric would form a horseshoe when done?
