A colour question
Brought up in the tam for sale thread about Jacobite bonnets.
What shade of blue is traditionally used for these? I've seen them before with red pom poms and red trim around the band.
I think I may try a dense crochet weave with a double strand of blue to make a thick weave with out the felting. Or something something. Anyhoo, I have been struck with a bit of inspiration.
I'd just like to get a better idea of the right shade of blue, if there is one, or if I should just eyeball it.
Oh, and because I don't know, is there any special significance to the blue bonnets with red poms and red trim around the brim? Military or is it just decorative? Would other colours be acceptable? Such as white and blue in th colours of the Scots' flag?
Would blue bonnets be acceptable with clan coloured pom poms and trim, say, for example, black and grey in the pom and trim for clan Douglas colours?
