I hope the windstorm coming our way tonight and the one right on it's heels for Christmas day avoids you guys down there John. There are still thousands of people in BC without power from last Fridays 100kmph windstorm and even some from the previous 3 windstorms the week before.

    Hang in there.

Colin, one small correction: delete the "k" from 100kmph... There were some gusts in the 12/14-12/15 storm that were around 100 mph or above. At least category 2 hurricane strength. Had a couple here. Blew down two 50' tall Cypress trees in our backyard, and also sheared off the stovepipe from the outdoor woodstove that we have. The good news is that as of 11:30 pm tonight, the lights are back on and I'm back to running on the grid.

Does one dare use the chainsaw or the trowel whilst kilted?

Glad you got your power back, John. This wind has been nuts. It gusted to 158kph off one of the lighthouses here. We were lucky; power was out last Friday but only for ~20 hours. At least it's not as cold as the folks in Denver are getting.

Yeah the wind hasn't been as bad over here, but power was out in a few places for a few days. I'm just glad it's over, I can finally get a good night's sleep without the wind howling like a banshee!
