    Holiday Hike

Pamela, Soiphie and I decided to spend a day outdoors on our break from work between Christmas and New Years. We heard that the Humpback Whales might be visible as they migrated off the Oregon Coast so we loaded up and headed west stopping first at one of our favorite spots for a quick hike, Sweet Creek Falls. We just had 3 to 4 inches of rain so the creek was swollen.

Next stop was Kentucky Falls, a place we had never visited, but decided this was the time to find it. The sign at Sweet Creek indicated that Kentucky Falls was 23 miles further. Right - 23 miles of twisting limb and tree strewn logging roads (65 mph winds the day before)but well worth the adventure.

Thank you for taking us along on this hike. Getting into back wood waterfalls is one of my favorite things to do.. I have yet to do it kilted, maybe this spring!

View of the Oregon Coast Range. Our little forest loop ended up being 65 miles of logging roads so ended up not getting as much time at the coast.

Quick stop at the beach for Sophie to chase seagulls before it got too dark.

Lovely pics, thanks for sharing. I envy you the opportunity to get out and get some good exercise at this time of year. A trek to the falls and a visit to the coast sounds like a full day's adventures. The daylight hours are so very short here in Scotland in winter.

Very nice. You have inspired me to do some hiking before I return to work myself.

    Thanks for sharing the photos.
