I saw on the USAK thread that both you fellas had folks that fought in Jubal Early's campaign to take Washington D.C. My GG-Uncle William S. White rode with the 20th VA Cavalry, A Company. He was in the group that fought the blocking action when Early retreated. William was shot in the head and captured, sent to a hospital for a day or so and went on to Capital Prison for several more days. He was shipped by train to the Elmira Prison in NY where he lived for 2 month and then died of fever. I need to go there and place flowers on his gravesite, no White has ever done so.

If you decide to go I will go with you and honor him on behalf of my relative. That Calvary Unit often screened the Artillery when they displaced to alternate firing positions. Or as we in the Army like to say during retrograde advances....

Not a problem ...I am very serious about honoring the bravery of those past. I want to do my part to mak sure that all of America's Fallen Both Blue and Grey...and all others are never forgotten. When my unit goes overseas anywhere we always try to go to the nearest American Military Cemetary and lay a wreath. CR66

That's awesome! My old unit had an annual landscaping, and cleaning up of the local American Cemetary in the KMC (Germany.) I always felt honored to be a part of it.
