Galway is in Ireland KT. Scotland is just a hop, skip, and a jump away though.

Galway is a lovely city, I visited it several years ago when I was best man at a wedding to the west of the city.

You will love Eyre Square Beloit, and the little statue of Padraig O'Connaire there.

I can recommend the Guinness at the Skeffington Arms too!

But I didn't hear much Gaelic spoken in the city itself although you hear plenty once you have gone a few miles west.

Glad that you are going, anyone who can have a chance like that should jump on it. I see you did!

You lucky young man! Enjoy the trip, report back often with updates, and get lots of pictures. Especially of the sexy Irish women!!

And don't forget to study the lasting effects of the Irish migration to America during the potato famine on the local families and economy. Put in lots of compare and contrast, teachers eat that stuff up.

You won't be a lone kiltie in Galway - I think Niblox is based there.

One of my ancestors on my mother's side, Sir Thomas Fitton was Lord Lieutenant of Connacht and Thomond under Queen Elizabeth I.

He's mentioned in the local histories, not very flatteringly
