    Burns Supper...which kilt?

Many of us will attend a Burns Supper and since it's a special occasion we want to look good and those with several kilts will probably select their nicest kilt (must be a nightmare job for Hamish )

    Caledonia modern, 8y 16oz?
Ancient and colorful tartan, the striking colors will do great with a pc.

    XMarks, 8y 12oz?
Since it's an Xmarks Burns Supper it will be very appropriate.

    Isle of Skye, 8y 16oz?
A classy tartan, can't go wrong with this one I guess.

    MacLaren modern, 13oz 8y?
"My clan" and matching tartan hose...always a good choise.

    MacLaren muted, 13oz 8y?
The muted colors are very nice, pleated to the stipe...stunning kilt.

    MacLaren 1819, 13oz 8y?
    Very rare tartan, an eyecatcher.

I can't make up my mind

    Take them all
    Change after each speech.

    Honestly though,

For special occassions I always go with the family tartan. I want something that says this is where I come from - this is me. Just my 2 cents.

I'd take more than one with me if I had the option. You're gonna be there more than one day anyways...you'll need a change.

But I'd love to see both you and Hamish wearing your xmarks tartans in the same photo. To bad there aren't others with xmarks tartan kilts going.

As far as what kilt to wear to the Burn's dinner, I would wear the MacLaren Modern tartan. The dark colors will look nice at this type of event. I have the MacLaren Modern kilt as well, and it is a nice kilt. i just think it would really accentuate the rest of your highland attire as well.

Good luck, and have a good time at the Burn's Supper

The MacLaren and Isle of Skye are both absolutely beautiful tartans, but I'd go with the Isle of Skye because it's heavier at 16 oz. (I must admit to a prejudice against red tartans even though I wear red Robertson when in full dress.)

Nothing wrong with any of those tartans--we are all impressed!--but I would go with the Skye.

Of course, there is the question of what goes on top. You want everything to match.
