    Johnnie Armstrong's Grave

In the photo thread about Johnnie Armstrong's home, Gilnockie Tower,
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ight=Gilnockie, I mentioned that Johnnie was hanged at Carlenrig in 1530.

The Reiver Trail interpretation board at Carlenrig has been broken off by the recent storms but I found it lying face down in the mud nearby and turned it over for a photograph.

Fortunately, Johnnie's grave is well signposted.

    Here is Johnnie's grave.

It is adjacent to the old Teviothead cemetery.

Across the road stands the little parish church with more modern tombstones within its grounds.

Nearby, beside the main A7 road there is a Johnny Armstrong gallery which houses a small museum of artefacts and contains a shop which sells hand crafted jewellery, mugs, whisky measures etc.

Armoured knights of the Border Reivers era are depicted at the entrance.

At the gallery I bought this little celtic cross necklace for Ann.
Here is a link to the Johnnie Armstrong gallery website.

Well, now I have another place to visit when I get over there. Thanks. My Great Great Grandmother was an Armstrong, although I'm not too sure when that line of my family came to the USA. Love to go there and see all that stuff, but for now, your pictorials are as close as I can come. Thanks a lot!
