So, how do you handle it?
Late last week, my bride and I had to head to Michigan for a funeral. On the way up, we stopped to see Matt at the Scottish Tartans Museum to order a couple of kilts. Matt was very helpful and walked us through all of the options and accessories we might need, thus helping lighten my wallet a fair amount
So, what did you order, you might ask? First a box-pleat from Matt in the Isle of Skye tartan pleated to the grey stripe and an 8yd MacKinnon hunting ancient pleated to the orange stripe.
Now, my question for the rabble...... How do you handle the waiting? To make it even more interesting, the MacKinnon hunting has to be weaved and will likely not be ready until early May! Oh my!
As a last note, many, many thanks to Matt for his patience and expertise in walking a newbie through this process. My wife and I both very much appreciated this. I can certainly recommend him to any one wanting to order their first kilt!

Take a wee dram of the aqua vitae twice a day and call us in the morning.
The waiting is the worst part. You'll just have to muscle through with what you have, fantacizing over the dashing figure you'll cut with those new kilts. You can also think about all the other stuff you'll need (shirts, jackets, sporrans, etc.) and start buying some of that.
Just trying to help.
Don't forget the aqua vitae!

Thanks Jim! Unfortunately, I am a tee-totaler (long story!) and the lusting for the other things will now have to wait for the walletectomy to be performed.
On a side note, boy am I glad to be back! That 850 mile drive yesterday took it out of me!

Man, it is good to have you back safe and sound. You can see that prayers are answered.
As to the teetotalling, good for you. Nothing like spring water or--when you want to get really crazy--a little tonic water with lime!
I know we can count on you for Saturday night, so I'll have planty of other stuff to drink.

thescot nailed it...aqua vitae combined with an occasional browse for kilt pins, brogues and other such things will keep in sane.

Well S-4 First Congratulations on the new kilts,
remember they are going to be worth the wait,
I am not sure how to deal with the waiting. The only thing I can suggest is plan for events when you can wear them, just think about the reactions you will get from fellow Xmarkers when you show them off for the first time.

Endless games of "Patience" on the computer, enjoying the kilts one already has and remembering that "all good things come to those who wait."

As Jim said, you'll need a decent sporran, belt, a comfortable pair of brogues...perhaps a bonnet for Savannah, Grandfather Mountain and Stone Mountain...
*sigh* the list never really ends, does it?

Congrats on the new wears.
As for the waiting....stare blindly at a clock as beads of sweat form on your brow, and you nervously jump at any sound hoping that it's the delivery man at the door. At least that's what I do.

Now there's an idea whose time has come.
We could start in now planning a kilt night for the arrival of each kilt, kind of a christening ceremony with the kilted rabble in the area.
Think about it. I'm sure you'll see the wisdom of my words, grasshopper.
