Practice your Hamish! I mean, you KNOW we're going to want to see a "Hamish pose" when Matt gets you your Isle of Skye . . .

Mike I'm somewhat envious of your no doubt very educational tour with Matt N. Congrats on the new kilt forthcoming, I'm sure it'll be spectacularly made. Can I suggest reading about 10 books by Terry Pratchet. And if you haven't read Catch 22 and the Diceman go forth and do so. Good distractional material and the latter is a wild trip into the untrod self.

The waiting is hard, Erin and I have to wait a week or two longer with the shipping time to Australia.
When you have more than one kilt it is easier because you have something to wear during the wait.
My Mum said "all good things come to those who wait".
Hey Erin, you're up early today!

I better practice mine some more as I forgot to do one with my Isle of Skye pics!

Just step out each day in the kilt (s) you already own and plan for the time when you will soon have a wider choice. If its any comfort, I'm jonesing for a kilt and I'm teetotal so that's two things we share.

Thank you sir, that does help! Unfortunately, the only kilt I have at the moment is a stillwater black Stewart. These two are both going to be 16oz stromes and made to measure... Two firsts..... Oh the agony!

I'm also Jonesing for a 16 oz. Strome boxpleat (Henderson 'weathered') from Matt. I'm 93 days into the wait, but who's counting??
Oh, and I'm also "straight edge" which apparently is something similar to "teatotal."

So, what did you order, you might ask? First a box-pleat from Matt in the Isle of Skye tartan pleated to the grey stripe and an 8yd MacKinnon hunting ancient pleated to the orange stripe.
Now, my question for the rabble...... How do you handle the waiting? To make it even more interesting, the MacKinnon hunting has to be weaved and will likely not be ready until early May! Oh my!
As a last note, many, many thanks to Matt for his patience and expertise in walking a newbie through this process. My wife and I both very much appreciated this. I can certainly recommend him to any one wanting to order their first kilt!

That is a rather humorous statement as it took me two years to save the funds to order the kilts! My desire for these first came about after a visit to Scotland two years ago.
The idea for the box-pleat came about during the 2005 Stone Mountain Highland Games. What eventually pushed me over the edge was my nephews wedding that is coming in June. As long as they are complete by then, I will be a happy camper!
