I'll probably end up pleating to the yelllow stripe, but I still kind of like the idea of how I originally described pleating. Yes it would look almost like a solid color kilt with 2 (3) horrizontal yellow stripes, but as soon as you move all the yellow would flash. Still trying to figure it out.

the blue stripe is one of the ones I posted a few pages back. Rocky advised against it because it doesn't "pop" as much as the yellow.
Remember the actual fabric will look different then computer rendered colors.

So just when I'm convinced that to the yellow stripe is the way to go, we get a thread showing the Coast Guard tartan pleated basically the way I originally asked about.

Gotta decide soon I guess, makes my head hurt (and is the tartan in, any word?).

that coast guard tartan has a really unique look! I kinda like it.
Seriously though, since there are so many ways you can pleat it. I really think you should ask your kilt maker to show you pics of what some of ways will look like. The general consnsus seems to be sett or yellow stripe, but you keep going back to the no stripe. Your gut instinct counts for something so I'd say to fully explore that option. You don't want to regret not having going with your gut. A chance at looking at all the options side by side would really help. Just a suggestion.
