Dread, what about a removeable hemp liner? It could be rigged to tie in, or snap in, or something like that? Do you melt wool blends as well? Dang, that's a tough one.

Um, Dread? Have you talked to a doctor about this? Excessively caustic sweat can be indicative of a host of other health problems.

Just as an example, I seem to have stopped corroding metals that have been in contact with my skin since I lost close to 100lbs. (I'm 195.5 today, down from a high of about 285ish around this time last year.)

I have. It is likely a result of my diet. I eat HOT foods. Kung pow tofu and shrimp, curries, habenaro hot sauces, etc.

I have always been like this, but the effect has become worse since moving to a diet of mostly veggies. I have however, done this since I was a kid.

I am looking forward to living for a while in hemp. Hemp is amazingly acid resistant.

You should talk to your doctor. Having overly acidic sweat can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance, or some nutrition deficiency. My ex had that problem. He played guitar and the sweat and oil from his fingers would erode the strings. He spoke to his doctor who recomended a change in diet and a special vitamin supplement that fixed the problem. It would also help to drink loads of water.

    Dread,

I know leather kilts are even more expensive than wool kilts, but they do give top value over time.

Don't know about back there in the muggy south, but out here in the canyonlands my leather kilts are still wearable in the heat.

A change in diet perhaps? It could be that you eat alot of acidic foods and your just sweating out what you dont need. Or you know, you may just have some nuts proteins in your sweat.

In one of the links provided, it mentions that this can be a side effect of RA. Which I have. So that makes sense.

I may over do it, but I load my self down with fiery foods, peppers, wasabi, whatever, because I have severe anemia due to RA. Eating all of those things keeps me from getting sick. Like right now, I have a slight sore throat. But it is only s slight sore throat and cough. Things like these can wipe me out. Last time I had the flu it turned in to pneumonia in both lungs and hospitalised me. Now, I rarely get sick or get those wretched infections I had... Probably because few things can survive living in my body.

The effect has become worse since moving to a mostly vegetable based diet and adding even more onions and garlic to my food than previous.

Those 'bleached' spots on that shirt were from me bleeding on it. When I bled on the table, it ate the finish off.

"But honey... I need that wool kilt..."
