Absolutely beautiful!! I know that is makes such a wonderful piece of artwork more special when a family member creates it. Definately a family heirloom there. He sounds like my father who is equally talented around a pile of wood, if he starts to make too much of something for alot of people it takes the fun out of it for him.

Well folks, the man himself has answered in an email... So here are his own words!
Well son, where do I begin??
I didn't expect to see my little project for you on the web, but there it is..... I'm overwhelmed by the comments. I would have done better if I knew you were going to do that.
I think by the comments, you may have sparked some interest in people trying to make their own, which is great. I would love to see some of the results .
Now, before you ask, no, I'm not in the business of making items for sale. My response to those that asked is " If you want one, make it!!"
Not sure if I should thank you, or cuss you out for doing that, but pass along my gratefulness, for all the nice comments.

Splash, it was like I could hear my "old man" just then. I know its knotched the "Jonesing" factor up a few more degrees. My Dad should have his new workshop set up from the move up to Brasilton, GA soon ( almost your neck of the woods I think) . Think I am going to have to do some "plundering" in his exotic scraps box when I go up there for a visit and do some playing with all his marvelous toys! He has the tools, I have the want!!
BTW did he make the blade?

The blade was a $14 special from Atlanta Cutlery http://www.atlantacutlery.com/websto...ubh_blade.aspx
When you come up to see your dad, give a holler. Braselton is only 30-45 minutes up the road. In the Atlanta area, that is right next door!

Both are simply GORGEOUS. Hopefully you inherited some of your father's special talent and you can be the one to go into business for us.

Don't I wish.... The talent for forming wood into anything but sawdust skipped me and wound up with my brother! As I always tease him, I got the brains (went into computers) and he got the talent (a custom cabinet and furniture builder).
