Oh, those are nice! That's a good idea, putting one on a tam!

The tartan in the photo I posted is called, Spirit of Scotland.
To view a bigger swatch, go to the Scottish Tartan Authority (the official overseer of registered tartans)
http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/site/home/home.asp
Click on the tartan ferret; in the tartan name input box type 'spirit of scotland' & hit enter; click on 'spirit of tartan' hot-button; a separate window will open with the tartan which you can maximize for best viewing.
FYI, this is the actual webpage I copied the photo from.

As for the kilt pin in the photo, I realize you can't see it real clear because of the angle the model is standing at, but the kilt pin looks like a giant safety pin. I just wanted to illustrate that it's quite common for women to wear a kilt pin on their kilt skirts.

After all was not the kilt pin invented by a woman? Queen Victoria? Dirka you could search ebay for brooches. This is what I'm doing to find a maple leaf for my forthcoming Maple Leaf tartan, I'm alsp looking for a trillium brooch for when I get my Ontario Provincial tartan.

I might just do that. I love e-bay. I don't know why that didn't occur to me in the first place.

That my dear is not just a tam. That is a Dreadbelly B-17 Bulletproof tam, of which I am quite fond of! You definitly need one! A nice rich Royal Purple one!

I'd love a miniature crochet needle for a kilt pin. Not sure how that would go though.

Er, not sure if I phrased my self clearly.
I am not sure how that would go over.
Now, I've whipped out my crocheting out in public and started hooking away. In a kilt. Do I even need to tell you what sort of fuss this caused? The folks around me see a big hairy man in a skirt doing something that a woman does with yarn... You can see on their faces that it does not sit with them very well.
I can't imagine how a crochet hook on a kilt might effect the poor saps.

Crochet needle, not a voodoo pin!
Of course... I'm sick enough to wear something like that. ![Twisted Evil](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
Edit. I have thought of a skull and bones motif... Only a skull with two crochet needles instead of bones.
