Don't give up on the Land of Enchantment tartan, either - it's a beauty too! Enjoy your first (undoubtedly of many)!

Congrats and thanks for sharing with us your decision. Now the next command from the group is..... Pictures when it arrives!

clan gordon kilt
Hey Angel923. Good choice with the Gordon Ancient. What mill are you looking at getting it from? I have all of my tartans with the ancient colors come from the house of Edgars, and yours is available in the House Of edgar 13 ounce clan tartans. The blues and greens are really nice from House of edgar. My farquharson ancient from the house of edgar is almost identical to your gordon ancient from house of edgar.
Just figure this may help.

There are a couple of different options for hose. If you are looking for traditional looking hose, contact Matt Newsome at the tartan museum http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/hose.htm and ask about his large size lewis hose. For a little cheaper alternative, check out http://www.hamiltondrygoods.com/sock.html

Give Ron at Hamilton dry goods a call. He just got in some merino wool over the knee socks and I got some and they are real thick and will fit a big calf. They are quite streachy and real nice and soft. I want to dye these and they are off white. I got three pair at $10. a pair and he sent them parcel post $6 something.

Nice choice! Yes it is expensive but look at it this way they last a life time.

Congrats on your kilt! Just a word of advice to any seeking the "Irish County Tartans". I asked my kiltmaker to get me County Kilkenny in heavy weight 16 oz wool, but when I received the kilt it was more like 13 oz wool. As of now, I don't think you can get the county tartans in anything over 13 oz. If you can I'd like to know!
