    Beloitpiper got me a thinkin'....

And that's a dangerous thing to do. I've always wanted to make my way across the pond, but I've not a clue what I would actually want to do in Ireland and Scotland. As clergy, I'm sure most of you know that I wouldn't get carried away in a pub!

I thought, what a better place then to ask people who have already been. What would some of you suggest. You who are in Scotland could be quite a help as well. I don't know when I will be able to go, hopefully before I'm too old. I would like to at least put some of your thoughts together.

I'd get plastered in a pub, probably wind up with a few tattoos, and wake up a fews days later confident that the guy upstairs still loves me unconditionally.

Seriously though... I'd go sight seeing through the country, check out some castles, tilt at a few windmills, check out local yarns if I could, (Well, that is what I would do) and take as many pictures as humanly possible.

Well I stopped drinking alcohol over two years ago and Scotland's still got plenty to hold your interest even if you don't drink whisky. See the great cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh in the central lowland belt, with their impressive buildings; the granite city of Aberdeen where the buildings glitter after a shower of rain; the indented west coast with its tidal inlets and islands; the highlands with their rugged gandeur; the southern uplands with their old castles and tower houses which tell tales of Border Reivers and battles with the English; follow in the footsteps of Robert Burns around Dumfries and Ayr; need I go on?

Go to Dumfries. Stay at Ferintosh. Rent a car and see the countryside. Caerlaverock Castle, Mull o' Galloway, Wigtown, maybe take a ferry to Ireland for the day. Then a couple of days in Edinburgh before you go home. Those are our plans for June anyway.

--still trying to work Cardiff (and Derek & Elaine) into the trip. David & Helen and Alex & Anne, can you come over for dinner one night perhaps?
