which reflects the trend that in Britain the horizontal lacing is more dominant for all types of shoes with lacing than in other countries.

I agree that the horizontal lacing looks really nice, - and I use that style for numerous of my shoes/bootd - but I don't know if it can be claimed is the "correct way" for everybody..

I don't mean to infer that people have to wear them this way... a lot of people on this site look for the traditional way of wearing things. We tend to wear our kilts as they did/do in Scotland, so I was pointing out the way the Docs were worn in their native land (although they were invented by a German, they were first mass produced in England).
