Bravo F-H.C.A.G.! Sinbad looks well pleased!

Thanks for all the photos as you've been going along, and for taking the time to answer my questions.

What do you plan to line Sinbad's kilt with, and how much of the internal construction will be lined?

    Best regards

I'll be lining it with whatever cotton cloth I can find in my huge pile o' scraps. The last one (and first attempt) I lined with some leftover thin black cotton material I had used to make Panache a Renaissance Faire shirt years ago. I am going to line to about halfway down from the fell, because I want as little wool touching Sinbad's legs as possible (but don't want the lining to show). He says, "Mommy, this kilt makes my legs feel like they are going to sneeze!" (and yes, this is quite possibly the cutest thing I have ever heard).

    Be well,

Kids are wonderful! Thanks for the reply again. I sympathise with Sinbad, as I too had a reaction to wool as a small boy - I grew out of it in my early teens. Here's hoping that Sinbad does the same.

Now, how do I get that drink to you from across the pond?

    Best regards

I finally found some time to work again today. Pulled out my first attempt to look at the lining

Turned it over to get a view of the lining, slightly folded over the edge of the under apron

And Smudge promptly decided to "help" me

Ironing the hem/edges of the lining

I realized at this point, that I really needed to get the belt loops on before sewing the lining in, sooo.....

Finding just the right swatch for belt loops

Lining it up to match the waist band

Ironing the belt loops for sewing

Deciding whether to bring out the white stripe

    Or hide it entirely

I decided it looked better hidden

    More to come...

    I Finished!

I hand sewed the belt loops

And sewed them onto the waistband

    Here's a preview

Here they are, on the kilt

There were a few distractions during this process!

So I could use that drink!!!

    The thought is enough!

    Now to line it...
