Raleigh NC Tartan Day Doings
To all XMarkers withing striking distance of Raleigh, NC. !!!
My daughter, who works at the NC Renaissance Faire every year sent me this notice -
Official Triangle Tartan Day Celebration
The North Carolina Renaissance Faire is proud to announce that we are the 2007 Official Tartan Day Celebration for the Triangle, Friday, April 6, 2007, 3 PM - 10 PM. We will be working with the NC Tartan Day Committee, headed by Judith Lloyd, to produce this yearly event for the Triangle and is sponsored in part by The St. Andrews Society of NC.
Tartan Day, enacted by Congress in 2005, is similar to the Irish Celebration of St. Patrick's Day but, of course, for the Scot and Scot-Irish Community. To learn more about Tartan Day, go to
www.TartanDay.org Or to learn more about other Tartan Day Celebrations go to, www.TartanDay.org/national.htm
We are excited to announce that the Scottish Tribal Band, Albannach, will be playing at this event and will bring with them David Ross, A Scottish Historian seen on the History and Discovery Channels, who will be telling the tales of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce in honor of Tartan Day. He will also be giving weapons talks and demonstrations. www.davidrross.org
The Tartan Day Committee will be sponsoring a "Bonnie Knees Contest" to judge the man in a kilt that has the best knees and a Parade of the Tartans/Clans. Additionally, NC State Pipes and Drums will play, as well as others.
Mary, Queen of Scots, will host the event for The North Carolina Renaissance Faire and men wearing Kilts and ladies wearing their Tartans will be admitted for Half Price on Tartan Day only.
So, celebrate your Scottish Heritage on Tartan Day at The North Carolina Renaissance Faire or just come to help us Celebrate and enjoy the Fun! Everyone's a Scot on Tartan Day!
So - North Carolina and environs - How about planing to come and make this a success? Albannach, show your knees, march in the parade, and half-price too!

Hello Bchunter.
It's at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The Tartan Day celebration and activities appear to be added to the annual Renaissance Faire which is going on March 31/April 1, April 6/8, and April 14/15. Hope to see you there.
