YES, it's the gun metal gray. WHAT a fabric!
i suspect the carmel work kilt is possibly heavier..i hope so, but with all the talk about the black original, i'm getting the jones again...
so, the heather grey sounds great, and i WANT one!!

Have a olive mocker, wanted the gunmetal grey one (sorry, but the charcoal heather just doesn't come close enough to my uniform pants color to replace them - the olive does!)... so when the gunmetal went away I was sad.

But it's a great product (in whatever color/fabric you decide upon)! As has been said repeatedly up-thread, it's a great way for folks to "test the waters" and see if they want to pay the freight for a more traditional kilt.

My next? A Matthew Newsome 4-yard box pleated traditional in MacLaren Ancient! (Should be here within the next six weeks...)

I've now got three Originals: tan corduroy, olive, and tan. They're great, and what gave me the courage to wear a tartan kilt.

Now, perhaps for a UK Survival...

...and something from Freedom Kilts, and something from USA Kilts, and something from Stillwater Kilts, and the list goes on.

I've got two Original UK's, a black one and an olive one.

My 14 year old got his first kilt this year too. It was really cool taking him down to the UK store and letting him pick one out then walking around downtown for a while afterward.

Given a choice between a UK and an Ipod, he chose the UK. I predict he will be a man of style.

I've also got a sport kilt. It's just as comfortable as a UK, but only has one pocket just inside the apron, not the enough-to-hold-a-six pack cargo space of my UK.

I've noticed that Sport Kilt is making one in the Army's new ACU pattern. For the record, they have the pattern sideways.

It's nice being able to just head down to the UK store when the urge strikes.

Lemme tell you what it's like wearing a UK in seattle. UK gets coverage in the local papers once or twice a year so people know them. I've had people walk up to me and say "Is that a Utilikilt???" One of my (female) co-workers said we should all wear Utilikilts because they are in style now.

For those who have the chance to visit seattle, I strongly encourage a trip to the UK factory/shop. It's right downtown around Pioneer Square. The guys there are great, it's a cool part of town and there are plenty of good places to imbibe within comfortable staggering distance.

I was reading William Gibson's "Idoru" last night and came across this passage on page 105, "He was dressed entirely in black, which had the effect of somewhat reducing his bulk. He wore a soft, smocklike garment sewn from very black denim, multiple pockets around its wide hem. Laney thought it looked vaguely Japanese, in some medieval way. Something a carpenter might wear."

Sounds like the perfect match for a black workman's UK. If you folks ever run across something like this, let me know.
