It's coming up a little green, but actually those stripes are 3 shades of brown. I got a chance to see the final CAD design right after MacHummel received it. It looks better than I imagined, and I have seen a few kilts made in this tartan.
    Trust me, it's really nice.
Won't be long now, just a while to do the run and everyone will be donning this beautiful tartan,

    Mc Hummel,

Is your weaving of the Maple Leaf going to retain the assymetrical pattern?

I am doing a Maple Leaf right now and when you reverse the fabric for joining the three brown are reversed on one half.

A very troublesome Tartan to pleat.

    I wear the kilt because:

If you get the Maple Leaf tartan in wool, you have to order single width or have it hemmed... it's an A Symetrical tartan, so you can't use the selvedge unless you use single width. Same goes with certain other tartans... Hntg Stewart, Buchannan, etc. Hope this helps...

Rule of Thumb: When in doubt, ask the mill BEFORE you buy.

I don't know the ins and outs of fabric in double width but is there not a selvedge on both sides top and bottom. When split can you not just turn the fabric and cut to length then start the kilt. I don't know kiltmaking, I just love to wear them. I guess the best idea is to not seam a few pieces together so you don't have to try to match the pattern up. When you order this much fabric I would guess you can just cut off the length and start.

I know there were a few choices sent as to size of the sett and the previous material I've seen had a fairly wide check. This one is slightly smaller and seems to look easier to see the repeat on your average size pleat depth.

It's going to look awesome in 5 or 8 yrd kilts. I cannot wait and I'm sure there is going to be great response on the finished kilt.

getting closer everyday, can't go by fast enough!!!

And of course the kilts for those furthest away should be made first as they will take the longest to arrive!
