Small Town Kilting
So, on the way home from the Mesa, Arizona Highland Games my lady and I laid over in Payson, Arizona.
At breakfast at the Knotty Pine Diner I'm wearing my brown leather Utilikilt. (Here's a pic. My lady thought I should post one WITHOUT a bunch of rocks in it)

After breakfast we're walking up to pay the bill and a guy stops me and asks, "Is that a leather Utilikilt?" I told him, yes, it was. I thought that was pretty knowledgeable for rural Arizona.
Then another guy stops me and asks, "What clan is that?" I told him "Cattle Clan." He laughed, then I told him it was generic for any clan.
And, at the games themselves, I saw a guy from Page who said he'd be coming down to help sort out what clan his family belonged to. Danged if he wasn't sporting a new black kilt of some sort. Saw him at a distance and he missed me....but hey....now we are TWO in my little town of Page, Arizona. Hope he's brave enough to wear it about.
Anyway, point is that if kilts are catching on in small rural towns that's a VERY positive sign for FREEDOM!!

Ron, great that you have another kiltie in your area. They are definitely catching on. Now would you please post some more pictures of that gorgeous kilt? Does UK still offer them? Ah well, it doesn't matter. If/when I get a leather kilt, it will be one of Roberts. That bronze leather just calls my name, although some of the others are nice as well.
Sorry for the hijack back to Ron's thread!

Okay, KCW - here's another pic of the UK Brown Leather. No, don't think they offer brown anymore. And UK's changed some stuff about their black leather kilts.
Somewhere I hit a wrong switch in the process from Kodak EasyShare to Irfranview to my pictures some of the pics are switching to black and white. I'm baffled. So if the pic comes out black and white that's why.

I have a leather RKilt too...but I have to lose some weight to get back into it. Was too optimistic about holding my weight when I ordered it. Can barely sqeeze into it with all the straps maxed. One more reason to lose some weight.

Kilts have not caught on in the small town of Forest Grove, Or.
Elva and I walk around FG.on a quite regular basis and I have yet to see another kilt in this town other than myself. I did see a young fellow in Cannon Beach one time, in a green UK.

That's what I was thinking. Very "Ansel Adams-ish"

This may of been an accident, but it is an excellent photo for a black and white conversion. A little bit of work with curves and this particular photo could wind up being a classic!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I don't know, but I think that is one excellent B&W pic! I wouldn't be suprised if the folks at UK asked to pit it on their site!

Nice story, if kilts are catching on in rural Arizona, maybe there is hope for small town Ontario, and to paraphrase Paul Simon:
"Everything looks better in black and white"
