I get those fairly often - despite never having made any requests for such information.

I don't do business with spammers. Ever. And if I find out that a shop I'm considering buying from has bought from these spammers, I won't be doing business with them, either.

They're the scum of the earth, on a par with people who hold cell-phone conversations at the opera.

A noble sentiment, to be sure. Good luck with that.

For several months, I was getting several e-mails a day from these... persons. This despite requests that they cease, and requests to their ISP to get them to stop.

I will avoid doing business with them as far as possible. My inbox is NOT a free advertising medium for anyone.

I get 6 to 10 emails from about a dozen DIFFERENT Pakistani companies a week. Never bought from any of them. I ask to be taken off of lists, but that seems to make them send MORE emails.

I've often been told not to respond to those emails at all, even asking to be removed from the mailing lists. Often, if they get a response, they simply take that as "Hey, someone does check this email account" and therefore, as you mentioned, send more emails to that address.

I ask for free counter samples. specify every detail. The odd time I have received an item, but they always tend to fall short on the quality. I rarely get the same company twice.

I also get these e-mails by the bucket full. I have received this same one at least 50 times.

On three occasions a customer has come into the shop with an item from these people asking me to fix it. JUNK!!!. I won't touch it.

I keep hoping that the people who do the work for Stillwater will send me one of these e-mails. Jerry seems to have found the only Pakistani business that can do something approaching Quality.

Oh well, deleting junk mail is a good pastime in the morning while waiting for the coffee to kick in.

And, even if they are legit and are actually real businesses, the quality of the merchandise is quite inferior. These are the folks who are providing the $35 "authentic tartan kilts" for sale in shops - true but highly misleading. They commonly use fabric that is an authentic tartan, but it's typically not wool nor is it made in Scotland. They're also the purveyors of what are known derisively as ****-pipes. Cheaply made and nothing you'd want to listen to. They're also commonly the origin of the "learn-to-play-the-bagpipes" chanters that appear in some catalogs. The fact that the catalog owners don't know what they're selling is amply illustrated by my favorite catalog photo of all time, which shows a tan wooden practice chanter with the reed stuck into the hole at the top of the blowstick _outside_ the chanter....!

    Cheers,

    Barb
