Apparently both of the tartans you've mentioned are "personal tartans." I don't have a membership to the scottish tartans authority. (I keep meaning to sign up, but my frugleness over rides each time!) Anyhow the "Cultoquhey" seems to be tied to a hotel in some way or other. Maybe someone with a paid membership can provide more insite.

regular cook:
Notes:
Designed by Richard Cook, Tustin, California as a general tartan for all Cooks and MacCooks especially those originating from Islay, Arran and Kintyre. See also Cook by Peter MacDonald. Without agreement from the 'head of the Cook family' this tartan remains a personal tartan rather than a clan/family one but this does not prevent any of the above-mentioned Cooks from wearing it.

Too many Cookes?
Here is a third Cooke tartan, also a personal one, evidently. You can find it at: http://www.tartans.scotland.net/tart...an_id=1259.htm
Scottish Tartans World Register: Cooke
Cooke Family Tartan WR2130
Designed for Mr Bob Cooke and his family. Cookes were seafarers from the West Coast of Scotland and Ireland. Some including the designer, can trace forebears to Liverpool and the North West coast of England. The colours of the tartan reflect the seas, the skys and the heart of the sailor.
The source of tartan 2130 was: Mr Cooke, Australia

Mmmm...so that makes it interesting and disappointing at the same time. I always figured there wasn't an actual Cook tartan but was excited to find one listed. I guess I'll just have to "adopt" one.
