Chicago St. Patrick's Day
Just curious if there will be any more Xsmarksers in town for the festivities. I remember that Beloitpiper was planning to be here for both the regular City of Chicago parade on the 17th and the South-Side Parade on the 11th.

Let's see a show of hands and plan to meet if you're coming. If you're coming to the South Side Parade, please let me know as it's in my own neighborhood and I can give you some advice re parking. My wife has actually broached the possibilty of letting me have any of you brave enough to travel down to the South Side stop in and have a brew and some CB&C if you're so inclined...I may even impose on my dear mother to bake a couple of Irish Soda Breads...which I can't eat because I hate raisins...I wish she'd find some bloody currants for a change...ye gods!
Anyway...anybody gonna be in town?

Lynn, the fair skinned Irish goddess and I will be arriving via train Friday early afternoon and leaving Monday sometime after noon or one. We've got no plans, no child, no car and nothing but time and two semi perfect livers to damage. We'd love to meet up sometime.
I'll PM you and we can exchange numbers.

Hey AA, there is a slim, but measurable possibility that I will be in town around that time, I will keep you updated. Although, since it will be business related, I will likely not be there on the weekends for the parades...

I just realized that the South Side parade is the weekend before thanks to my wife. I guess we won't be heading to that one as we'll be there on St. Patricks day weekend, however if there's going to be a meeting of the kilts that weekend, we'll try our best to get there.

The South Side thing has its points but the Downtown Parade is the main event. The only thing that could be problematical is finding a pub that isn't crowded. You've got Grace O'Malleys, Fado, Kitty O'Shea's (which I hear is in peril of closing in spite of it being in a major hotel and facing on Michigan Avenue)...I'm just trying to think of all the places Downtown or South Loop...there's the Duke of Perth and the Hye Bar but they're North on Clark Street...let's see what looks good, crowded though they may be.

A great way to spend ST Pat's day in Chicago is to See Gaelic Storm at the House of Blues. This is the most fun band I have ever seen live. 2 years ago they played the House of Blues for ST Pat's day and they drank the bar dry of all whiskey. I think there are still tickets for sale. It would be nice to not be the only kilted one there.

I need to see where the HOB is from where we are staying. We're on public transportation or cabbing it the whole weekend. Maybe we could show up.
