A Step In The Right Direction

When I brought up the idea of wearing kilts to different members of my family, I got many different reactions. My wife warmed up to the idea slowly My mother is a different story, she made it abundantly clear that she did not agree with it, nor did she like it. She is a dyed-in-the-wool Baptist (as I am) and was closed minded to the idea even though the Scotch-Irish in me is from her side!
Recently, I purchased a Stewart Black tartan kilt from SWK. I love it! When I brought the subject up to my mother, she said she would like to see it. Not just see it, but see me in it! I think she is coming around. Now, if I could get others in my family to open their minds...

Well good luck with that. My mom and aunt think the kilts are just a 'phase'. Won't she be surprised when I burn my pants?

Sounds very encouraging John, let your mother decide she likes it and she'll help change the others mind. A man in a kilt and a proud mother standing behind her son the others don't stand a chance.

Indeed. They shall all be vanquished... (Sorry, just in a really good mood for some reason.)

For what it's worth, my dad is a Baptist minister in VA, and while he isn't interested in a kilt for himself, he has no problems with me wearing one.

The free book "Buying your kilt" downloadable at the Kiltstore website is a good source of "educational" material. You might try printing it off and leaving it in a conspicuous place.
