Public note to BARB T!!!!!
I would like to publically thank Barb for what a great person she is.
She is already known most for her book (coming soon in a new, expanded and updated version).
She is also proved herself one of the fastest, accurate 8 yard kiltmaker.
A while back, she offered to work a deal to make trade for some specific tartan for her daughter's groom. I had enough "excess" (tartan intended for an 8 yarder, that was deep on my backburner, after I made a 4 yard-box of the same), so I offered to work it. I turn I got enough of 2 family tartans I REALLY wanted badly for 2 4-yard box pleats.
I have just got the material for the second (in Wallace) today.
She has exceeded the "deal" FAR more than I would have anticipated when I first hit the "send" button on her requested material. She has mentioned it as a sweet "deal" to her (got her the material soon enough to get it ready with plenty of time so it will not be a concern as the day approaches, is all I can see as being so sweet!)
She has not even requested a dime, though I was/am willing and able to pay her to get BOTH family tartans I have direct name ties to (no septs involved).
She is just as sweet on the phone as she seems to be on the forum.
If I EVER get an 8-yarder made FOR me, it WILL be by her!
I wanted to PUBLICALLY tell all ya'll just how great she has been to me!!!
(Intentionally put in General kilt talk, so it can be read by all!!!)
THANK YOU BARB!!!!!

I agree, Barb is great! I know, I'm still basically a newbie, and my kiltmaking experience is limited to a few boy's kilts (and a modern kilt in dubious progress at the moment), but I do plan on buying the new version of her book as soon as it is available (hint, hint, Panache-my birthday is in July). Here's to Barb T
Be well,
p.s. she's also willing to put up with tortoiseshell cats which is a major plus in my book

My experience with Barb was equally smooth and easy. She's a pleasure to work with and is very concerned about getting everything right for her customers.

While I was in Baghdad, Barb was awesome. She sent me a copy of her book for the Iraqi maid to try and make me a kilt (it flopped horribly, but that is another story), she constantly inquired about my well being, and shared some wonderful family stories with me during the worst moments of my life. When She made my Operation Iraqi Freedom: PSD tartan, she put extra love into it, sewed some of the stars and stripes into it, and made sure it was finished on the 4th fo July. Barb is awesome. xoxoxo
