well the term "Paintball" is a little misleading.
once upon a time the balls were filled with real oil based house paint,
but they were actually meant for marking cattle at stock yards or trees to be felled when logging.
but once shooting them at each other became a sport,
the mix changed.
the paint, referred to as "fill" is a mix of Etheline Glycol (found in Cough Medicine) corn starch and food colouring.
you can actually eat them and they wont hurt you, but don't try it, there is a chemical added so they taste horrible!
(so your toddler doesn't think it's a bag of candy should he get hold of your Paintballs)
