there are pipers everywhere here....well not really I exaggerate.
However, this time of year, every curling bonspiel starts and ends with a piper. Pipers at weddings, pipers at funerals. There is a Pipe and Drum school here that is quite well known. We sometimes have a piper at our waterfront for when cruise ships come in......I could go on.

Alex, pipes are not that uncommon in Canada, often times when I'm out in our rescue boat we enter harbour to the strains of a piper on the pier. Though he plays for the people not us.

I feel so lucky to have found a place to live that not only encourages kilts but pipers as well. Directly on the inner Harbour of Victoria, right across the street from the Parliament Buildings, The Royal BC Museum, and The Empress Hotel is "Pipers Corner". This corner is so named because it is reserved for pipers who wish to Busk. You know, grab your pipes, lay your Glengarry at your feet, and play away, hoping tourist will drop a few coins in appreciation.
Almost any sunny day (and a few rainy ones as well) the skirl of pipes can be heard over the traffic and roofs of my adopted city.

At first I thought you said you owned a Mall, then I cleaned my glasses.
It is great to see Kilts in the Mall, I do it all the time.
That is one great photo.

Hardy surprising... Victoria is the most British city in Canada.... hence the abundance of double-decker busses!
