Greek Tartan

I would suggest the St. Andrews tartan, since St. Andrew is the patron saint of Greece, and the colours of the tartan, blue and white, are also the tartan of the Greek flag.

Another appropriate tartan would be the Gordon tartan, in honour of George Gordon, Lord Byron, who fought (and died) in Greece fighting against Turkish occupation.

There's a piece of Gordon history I didn't know. I knew Lord Byron was a Gordon, I did NOT know that he died in combat. Very cool.

Oh, dying of a fever is much more boring,probably slower, and I would say less dignified.
Still didn't know that Lord Byron served in Greece though.

If you visit the temple of Poseidon at Sounion you can see where Byron carved his name into the marble.

Also,there is a lovely castle on the north coat of the Gulf of Corinth in which Bryon spent quite a bit of time. I've wandered around it.

Most greek kiltwearers I know of use the St. Andrew's tartan for the reasons mentioned above:

• St. Andrew is cool and their patron saint
• the national colors are in the tartan

Lord Byron Gordon died in the struggle for Greek independence, so any Gordon tartan would likewise be acceptable, but I think they mostly opt for the St. Andrews.

I love wearing the Holyrood, Alan why the interest? just curious to know I have greek hertitage in me. i believe you have a Holyrood kilt, now for the Gordon and the St Andrews HA HA HA HA
