The Big Goal is the Singlehanded TransPacific Race. That's a solo race from San Francisco to Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawaii. It's put on by the sailing group that I belong to, and Piper George belongs as well....well, not this year, but we USUALLy are paying members! LOL

I sailed solo from SF to Hanalei in 1996, but I tagged along a day behind the race fleet...didn't quite get it together in time to qualify. In 2004 I had a well prepared boat and tried again, but the boat wasn't quite structurally up to it, and a 35 knot gale off the California coast put an end to that adventure.

Piper George, however, has done the race, and completed it...

I sold the boat that didn't make it in 2004 and have been boatless for about 10 months. A LOT of SC 27's have sailed to Hawaii, and I'm gonna take this one....again...she's already done the trip back in the mid 80's.

Keepofthegrass....I'll see you in July, 2008!

Yeah, man. Put that rascal on a reach and feel the wind in your . . . face.

Nothing else gives you that kind of rush at 7 knots!

    Alan,
You sound like a four year old at Christmas time! It is good to hear the passion in your posts. She sounds like a boat to sail with. Keep safe.
