. . . the highlands, any suggestions from those who have been (or are there!) about which coach tours are the best, but not neccessarily the most expensive? We'd like to see the usual, Glen Coe, Culloden, Skye, et al. Any helpful hints about touring within a one week time frame much appreciated. We will be there the last week of June, busiest time for toursits I'm sure.
Thanks for any and all help!

 Cheers,

We hit Edinburgh, Inverness, Portree (Isle of Skye), Oban, Stranrarer, and Glasgow in a week. All we did was buy a copy of Lonely Planet Scotland, take coaches to the places we wanted to see, and than planned day trips from those locations. If that failed, we took the first coach that showed up and went that way instead. I Try to avoid hotels and instead look at guesthouses and B&B's. Most tourist offices will have a listing of local accomodations.
It's a beautiful country and so easy to miss so much. Best of luck with the trip planning.

 I second this.
When my fiance first came to Scotland before we got togehter, she just bought a 'Let's go' guide and used the Megabus to get around cheaply.
Those guides have all the usual, plus some lesser known spots to really get the best of Scotland.
