sorry forgot to add the added quandary that I have about these churches is that most of them pay cash for the construction with no need for taking out a loan. What "non-profit" organizations do you know that keep $50 million dollars on hand?
Sorry, different topic for a different board.

I'm a Customs & Border Protection Agriculture Quarantine Inspections Agriculture Specialist. The short version of my job description is I keep America's cows sane. The sanity of my co-workers I have no control over.
For three years I worked an Agriculture Detector Dog (if you can call playing "Find It!" with a dog every day work). Yes, I had a dog that was trained to find fruits and vegetables. The drug dog handlers thought this was funny until they realized their dogs could only handle 7 odors, and mine had learned over 50.

I was a firefighter/paramedic and technical rescue specialist with a slew of specialty certifications back in the day when I still had my full compliment of intervertibral discs. After considerably less-than-successful spinal surgery, spent almost a year on a walker, and several more on a cane. Went into computers until the Big Crash. I've been disabled (in Florida, without the benefit of disability or pension), laid off, downsized, and outsourced so many times now, I'm apparently a professional piper. White, male, middle-aged and middle management just isn't that hot a commodity in today's job market.

For the past 13 years I have been a banker, been through 2 mergers. I have a closet full of awards and commendations but that did not help. Saw total management changes and finally figured out there was no future in Large Corporate world. I resigned 2 months ago, but there is a small local bank that is building in my community and we have been in negotiations for my running the show for them. Until that time, I am playing tennis, running and riding my bicycle. And best of all living pretty much kilted. Oh, and at my French Bulldog's disposal, I am so whipped!

I am currently a Lubrication Mechanic at a chemical plant. Before the current position, I shunted railcars, loaded trucks, bagged dry chemicals, and worked as a production operator.
I used to work for my father, the garbage man. He owned the company, and gave me a pretty good start. 10 years full time was enough, so I got into the factory job 16 years ago.
Volunteer stuff: Chief Union Steward, Hospital Board Trustee, former firefighter, library board trustee, and best damn busboy you ever saw! (I call that last one volunteer because I got paid in food... and not off the dirty plates. It gave me the chance to watch cool bands for free, and I ended up with one of the waitresses!)

I've had many (potential careers) jobs, but for the last 5 years I've been working for an international uniform and service company. As a part of management, I just recently transferred to another department, now working third shift. I love it, none of the politicing like on the day shifts.
