			Kilt Jacket

					Greetings folks,
I'm in need of a kilt jacket to wear at "Dressy" functions, but I don't want a Prince Charley, or anything that smacks of a costume. Perhaps the kilt equivalent of a blazer. Does anyone know of such a thing?

 Cheers,
 Rick

There are lots of options for a kilt jacket other than a Prince Charlie. You can see pictures on our site of styles that we have available standard -- the black Argyle, the charcoal Craill jacket. We can also do Argyles in custom colors and tweeds if you want something less dressy.

We can also do kilt jackets in any of the cloths listed on this page. More info on that coming soon!

Uncle RickyI assume this is for the Scottish Rite Dinner? I can see if I can get you an Argylle or perhaps a Craill jacket from the tartan shop where I got mine, I have one for Grant, let me know what size you are and I will see if they have anything suitable on consignment, the Argylle I have is a Harris Tweed and cost me $40.00.

About the most laid back jacket and vest that I've seen is a Wallace Jacket. I still have one on my personal list. Minimal onamentation...more like a plain blazer than the others. Not sure if it's considered and "offcial" style of jacket or if it's just something that the company that sells it cooked up but plain is beautiful hereabouts.
 Best

The Charcoal Tweed Crail is my own personal dream "all-around" pretty-dressy kilt jacket. I don' t happen to own one, but if I had the $$$ and could come up with an excuse, I sure would!

The Crail (at the Kilt Store) looks about right, (The one without the shiny buttons) but the Kilt store wants over $400 smackers for one. I take a 46 or 48 McMurdo, but I wasn't thinking of the Scottish Rite dinner. Forty bucks for a rental is reasonable, but I would rather purchase one and get a few years out of it.

Thanks for the link Mr. Newsome. I'll take a closer look at that.

This is a military mess jacket that was simple to convert into a dress kilt jacket.
The only things I had to do were take off the stripes on the sleeve, change/add the buttons, and if you are so inclined make/braid the epaulets. With this jacket you don't have to wear a vest and can wear a belt!

 Total cost = $40
