So what's the word on this "Industrial" kilt? Since it's not listed on the site should I send him a message? How does it compare to the Cargo (since that's the one I'd probably end up getting)?
Amerikilt is great as far as price goes, is the quality/durability good? I'm absolute hell on clothing sometimes.

I've seen the boulder and I'd wear one, whereas I'd never wear one of their tartan kilts.....just personal preference, here..

Now, what I'd say is that since the Boulder is definitely NOT a traditional kilt at all, don't bother with a traditional sporran. Get a cheap, black or brown small fanny pack (cordura nylon) and wear that, just rotated 'round front. I got mine for ten bucks at REI.

From what I recall on the Industrial, it is like the cargo except that it doesn't have the pleats sewn down from the waist to the hips.

The Amerikilts are good but the pleats are not sewn in and the bottom edge has a "zig-zag" stitch instead of a hem or a selvedge. I think they will hem it for you for a fee or you can do it your self. Just factor that in when you specify the length to order.

So now it's a face off between Freedom Kilt and Amerikilt, maybe I should flip a coin?

Hi, if it helps save money for a better kilt I will send you a sporan. I make them in 1000 den cordura. Just let me know, it will be black and tan. I will post pics as soon as my 15 y/o teachs me how to.

    Solstice:

Made up your mind yet? I've noticed that we've restricted ourselves to solid kilts, which is entirely fine. (My first was a UK original in Olive Drab, because I figured "those are my clan colors right there" if you take my drift.)

But have you thought about a tartan?

The way I sing his praises, you'd think I was getting a kickback (kiltola, anyone?), but Rocky (and Kelly!) at USA Kilts do a HECK of a job. If I had it to do all over again, I'd start with a USA casual.

I don't have a Freedom Kilt yet (or should I say, a Freedom Kilts kilt?), but from the people who do, and from The Wizard of BC's posts and photographs, Steve makes a high class, high quality product. I keep planning to order from him, and it won't be long now.

Hear me now and understand me later! While I have a pretty much "off the rack" body, there is no comparison at all to how an "off the rack" kilt fits and how a custom tailored kilt fits.

I think that in order to keep both Rocky and Steve happy, you need to order a kilt from each of them! (Just kidding . . . but you'd end up with two great kilts.)

I have two Amerikilts and both have the fell sewn down as well as having the entire pleat edge sewn in. The material has held up well but I haven't had them very long yet. I have noticed that the different colors have a totally different weight / feel to them. My putty colored kilt seems to be a heavier material than the tan, for instance, which is softer and has a more open weave. I'm not sure which color you might be interested in, but you may want to inquire about this if you ultimately go with the AK.

I was not all that impressed by the Amerikilt I received because the outside pleats were sewn but not the inside pleats. Since I have a strict policy of never ironing anything, after a couple of washings the pleats were totally out of control.

The fabric is softer than my UKs so I used to wear it as an "around the house" kilt.

Well I went with the AmeriKilt for this purchase, and we're gonna see where we go from there. I really like the look of that Idustrial FK Steve and I'll probably go with you next. Thank you everybody for your input!
