All anachronism's aside.....I have seen quite a few drawings / paintings that had the same thing I was asking about.
I'll keep searching I guess.
Thanks.
Someone should have warned you - it's impossible to mention Braveheart around here without someone crying about the inaccuracies.
Oddly, they never complain about inaccuracies in Star Wars, Spiderman, etc.
I believe mddock58 is correct and that "moggans" is the name you seek.

Bob,
Then the next time one of my students asks me about why "the movie isn't the same as your lecture?" I'll just give them your e-mail address, okay?

You mean the "Death Star" didn't really look like that?
I'll add my vote for "moggans."

Wait a minute.. "Star Wars" was incredibly accurate. Just ask George THX1138 Lucas. Now if you mentioned Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek then I'd agree.. Come on.. Roger C Carmel's Harry Mudd (not to be confused with Harvey Mudd of Cyprus Mining) was not very realistic.. The tribble's pur just seemed so....

Naw everyone knows the Death Star was really pointy (I mean it's a star not the Death Orb).

Wow....what happened to this thread? LOL!
Sorry to disturb the muck.....
Thanks all for your input.
I don't know a lot about period correct Scottish wardrobe, but I am learning. During my learning process.....I'll ask all the "experts" to put up with my ignorance and to try not to get offended or upset.

This is also how it feels for a "newbie" on the GAoP (Golden Age of Piracy-> roughly 1715-1725). They both have many, many incorrect representations and anacronisms.
Need more help/advise on moggans? Or just the name?
By the way, the hose/stocking made out of tartan material are called:
Cadadh
These are what were often worn with kilts/belted plaids from late middle ages to mid 1800s (first PROVEN belted plaid documentation was 1594). There are instructions on how to make them buried on this forum somewhere.
