	If the kilt can be removed without unbuckling the straps then its way too large.   Heck.. if you don't have to suck in your gut and nearly hold your breath to get the strap into its buckle its probably too large or straps uncommonly long. (Unless, of course, you are built like a pillar and have call to braces to keep a kilt in place.)

					I always kept mine buckled because it seemed like they hung better that way even if it did mean I had to unbuckle them to put them on.Maybe I should see how this new, free, haiku way works.

					The reason I've been leaving them buckled and stepping into them is that I am fat.  Its dang hard to see over my love handles to hitch up the straps.  And, my kilts with straps come from four different kiltmakers at various weights over the past few years so there's no common strap hole on all kilts.  Instead of having to remember each kilt, I just left them buckled.
 Guess its gonna be another kilted learning experience to practice strapping on these kilts rather than stepping into them.  Have some experience since I strap them on when they first arrive unbuckled.
