I have very fond memories of watching Dr. Who.
To my knowledge I watched all the Tom Baker and Peter Davidson episodes.
From the few Jon Pertwee ones I have managed to catch over the years I think he played my favorite incarnation of the Doctor.
Favorite Episodes:
Genesis of the Daleks
Horror at Fang Rock
Robots of Death
The Pirate Planet
And of course who can forget "Terror of the Zygons" (The Loch Ness Monster) episodes where I believe Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart wore a kilt!
Cheers

I first started watching Dr. Who about 25 years ago as it aired on our local PBS station every Saturday night. Over the years I think I've seen all of the vintage series doctors and most the episodes. I have a real soft spot for stories and the charmingly primitive special effects. They are a real guilty pleasure for me.
I was very excited when they announced the new series but for some strange reason - I find myself able to easily take them or leave them. Sadly, they just don't do it for me.

I first started watching Dr. Who with Tom Baker as Dr. Who. We were living in England and I became very much a fan of the wonderful low-tech Dr. Who. I have not decided about the contemporary one yet.

Both the current Dr, David Tenant, and Captain Jack, John Barrowman, are kilt wearers in real life which is an added bonus!
i have also see several of those including the feature length
"Darlek Invasion of Earth" which if i recall was really the first time i saw the Doctor, but when i looked for more it was Jon Pertwee in the TV show, on Channel 19 TVO (TV Ontario, PBS) and on Saturdays on channel 17 (WNED Buffalo) the broad cast hours of Doctor Who so while my folks were playing cards i was in the next room drinking in really thoughtful Sci-Fi.
after all the play was the thing.
the Darleks and the Sontarins are my fav villains.
i seem to recall an interview with Tom Baker saying that by his final season as the Doctor,
living in London it was a little like what happened to Christopher Reed Playing Superman in the USA.
suddenly everybody knew Him and wanted autographs and pictures.
i sure hope that the Doctor regains that kind of popularity.
interestingly enough Doctor Who is the longest running sci-Fi TV show in history.
Star Trek isn't even close because for most of it's history it's been syndicated re-runs.

I like Dr. Who, the new series is missing 2 things from what I've seen. The Master, and going to other worlds. I loved the old show and I like the new. Tom Baker, & Colin Baker were my favorite Doctors.

Though I lean toward John Pertwee as my favorite, I have to admit that I don't have any un-favorite Doctors. Every one of them has brought some unique aspect to the part and I've enjoyed watching all of them. the only exception would be a lack of William Hartnell episodes in the US and very few Troughton episodes.
When did Tom Baker "bomb" in the States? It's certainly a be-hitch that any actor ever gets type-cast...really unfair...I 've read interviews with the Who's and they all seem to regret the type-casting but have no regrets about having been the Doctor. I was a a Who-Con a long time ago and Tom Baker showed up...worshipful fans as far as the eye could see...I even got an old Who fan friend of mine to watch Monarch by teling her that Tom Baker was a regular on it.
Best
