kilted motorcycle?

Just drive in your leathers/jeans, but stop around the corner from school, change behind the bushes and cruise the last 100 yards in your kilt. Cool AND safe!

I also agree with the vast majority. Wear protective clothing. end of story. At some point in your kilted ride the wind will catch your kilt and blow up. This will be a distraction, you will be dangerous to yourself and others. In 9 years of riding I rode only once in shorts and tee-shirt. Through the hottest of summers it was leather, denim & leather.

Clan Young of Milwaukee (the most active Clan in Wisconsin) always rides their Harleys (made in good ol' Milwaukee!) during parades.

Good for parades, not for the road. 4 words. Skin don't grow back. I can count on one hand the times I've ridden without gear, I just don't feel safe.

A couple of years ago I went to Edinburgh for the annual motorcycle show, and left the hotel in my kilt. I got on my BMW R1150RT bike and set off, but after 200 metres I felt "exposed" and I was showing just a little too much leg, and at risk of showing rather more, so I stopped and put my waterproof trousers on. Arrived at the show, and took the waterproof trousers off and went round the show kilted. I have not ridden the bike kilted again.

GOOD DAY All, the first time that I wore a pair of shorts on my bike some 25 years ago was also the last time. My calf came into contact with a hot part of the engine when I came to a stop afer riding for about 45 min. Had the first three letters of the bike's name branded on my leg for the next week, never again. Also there is a reason that most Western men use pants these days, horses, yes pants are better for being in a saddle on a horse. The Scots were not a horse soceity. My two cents any why Thanks Wes

I still have my skin and my brains because I ALWAYS, always with out fail wore a skid lid and protective gear. I still have an **** because of arseplates, fitted in to my back pockets of my pants. (Plates of metal cut in to the shape of your back pockets and slipped in when you ride. Take em out and slip em in your pocket when your not) I still have my armored gauntlets around here someplace in my apartment.

My super thick armored leather coat has been seen in a few pictures around here I think. As mentioned, skin just don't grow back. Let me show you a picture of my foot some time.

I don't think I would ride kilted.

"Kilted Motorcycle"

First, I'm not sure the best way to put the kilt ON the motorcycle.
Too far back, it will get into the rear wheel. Or drag the road (a real issue of friction and wear/tear at speed).
What about the exaust (a BIG issue if using synthetic blends or PV, as both melt)?
Would the kilt foul the air cleaner? OR just provide an extra later of filtering.

Lastly, I onder how well that would look . . .

What's nice about the kilt, is that you can wear your jeans to ???, put on your kilt, and take off your ??? Cyclists and athletes are turning to the kilt as a means to change after events in the open...and they're cooler and more comfortable.
