Question about kilt pins
Would it be right to wear a kilt pin on a casual kilt? ie a Utilikilt. I have read where it is not generally done. Comments?

Wait, let me check the rulebook...............nope! Doesn't say a thing about it. I guess it's your personal choice then
For me, if it looks right then it is right. If not, then not.
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

Nothing says you can't. Now I personally think that UK's narrow apron doesn't look right with a pin. However, I usually have one on my PK, and will probably put one on my new RK when I get another (don't like moving pins, so I'm 1 short right now).

If it looks good pin it on, if not than don't. You live in the US so do what looks best. I have seen a lot of people wear their casual kilts both ways.

If you do go with a kilt pin on the UK you might want to go with a smaller one (to "fit" the more narrow apron). Just a thought.

Streetcar a while back wrote about dressing up his Utilikilt with a nice kilt pin.
Here's the thread:

I'm with arrogcow in thinking that the UK's apron is too narrow for a kilt pin. I do wear one with my Sportkilt that also has a narrow apron (but bigger than a UK's) but made sure it was in proportion.

mr. mountainman,
sometimes its nice to break the rules, it does seem as if there are lots of rules to wearing kilts.
for example i sometimes wear suspenders with my kilt, most kilt wearers would have a heart attach if they saw this, but it works for me.

The only time I don't wear a kilt pin, is when I think it may be dangerous to wear or when I think it would get caught or in the way.

Never wore a kilt pin on any of my 14 UKs...but have sewn or ironed on patches to a bunch of my UK pockets...have since taken them off.
And have worn a Shoshonee pouch as a "sporran" with a UK survival and wore a leather sporran with my UK leather.
